Three-quarters of women who have an abortion report that the primary reason was that they could not afford the medical bills or caring for a child. While that may seem selfish on the surface, it is a reality facing many women in America. To the point where America ranks near the top of the most expensive places in the world to have a child (i.e. hospital bills)
A few weeks ago, you may receall that Prince William's wife Kate gave birth to their third child in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London. Though this ward with all amenities is considered top notch, the deluxe room package for 24 hours with non-Caesarian delivery still costs less than just the average birth in the Unites States. This sum does not include costs of care before or after giving birth. According to The Economist, the Swiss also pay quite a price for child delivery...though that is still compared to the price of a 'royal' birth.
If a woman can't afford health insurance, it's a safe assumption that she cannot afford the costs associated with having a child in the US.
