Travel Tips: The AWAY Suitcase
I'm so glad that many GradMoney readers choose to catch up on our articles during their travels and while passing through airports. That said, I thought it would be great to talk about some of my favorite travel products and tips from time to time on this site.
I travel a LOT. I have status with a major global airline and in fact, in 2016 I calculated that I flew enough miles in the air that I actually flew around the entire globe two times!
One of my favorite companions on those trips (besides my husband) is my carry-on bag from Away Travel. Away is an incredible company, based in New York and since all of the bags are sold directly from the manufacturer, there is no retail mark-up and so you pay close to wholesale prices for extremely high-quality luggage.
The brand has since expanded into larger luggage and offers hand-painted monograms (I have this and it's cute), but the best part of the Away Luggage is the built in battery with 5-full charges for a smartphone or tablet. I can't tell you how many times my phone died at the airport because a handful of kids huddled around all available outlets to charge their phones. Now I can charge my phone literally anywhere and not have to bother with knocking out some kid to get access to an outlet.
Lots of people have asked how I like the bag so far, and so far really no complaints. I do worry slightly when I end up on smaller planes that require me to check the bag at the gate because the overhead bins are just too small. The lithium battery in the bag is not large enough to be of any concern for being stored in the cargo hold -- in fact the battery isn't even a 1/3 the size of the maximum lithium battery size. Regardless, I will say that I have had the bag for about a year now and I've needed to charge the battery twice! It's a great buy.
The hard case is great since I know nothing will get broken inside, you can either push or pull the bag on its wheels depending on your preference, and there is even a rolled-up laundry bag inside the bag for all your dirty clothes.
If you are looking to check out the bag for yourself, or if I convinced you enough to buy you're own, you can visit AWAY TRAVEL and check them out for yourself. They are well worth the investment and have a lifetime guarantee.
